alps14The Mighty Alps and Dolomites Motorcycle Tour begins by crossing the channel and heading in to Belgium. We journey down through Germany and have two wonderful hotels on route. We continue in to Switzerland and then Italy over the next 4 days, finally heading in to Austria and the Salzburg region. On route we cross major passes including the Klausenpass, Simplon pass, San Bernadino, the Splugen, the Grimsel and Susten passes, the Stelvio, the Grossglockner along with many others.

We experience the stunning and awesome scenery of the Alps and Dolomites allowing us to take in some of the most famous passes on our route.

Our hotel accommodation throughout is of an extremely high quality and the evenings out in the beautiful towns and villages are an added bonus of this tour and they will certainly not disappoint you.

Day 1:

Today you should make your way to Folkestone for the afternoon crossing on the Euro-tunnel. We travel across northern France and in to Belgium for our first overnight stay of the trip.

Day 2:

After starting the day with a relaxing breakfast we head South through Belgium and on to Luxembourg, before finally crossing in to Germany and our lovely hotel in the Rhineland-Palatine region.

Day 3:

We continue heading South West today and down towards the Black Forest. We very quickly cross in to France, before entering Germany again down at the River Rhine. Our journey takes us South down the B500 before we join the motorway and our run down towards Lake Constance. Our overnight stay is at a wonderful 4 star hotel used by Missed Adventures for several years.

Day 4:

There are three stunning passes to ride today, but first we have to cross in to Switzerland. We head through the country using national routes before hitting the first pass of the day, the stunning Klausen pass and all its excellent accompanying scenery for us to enjoy. We then cross the Susten pass and finally the Grimsel pass, before travelling down the Furka strasse to our lovely hotel for the evening.

Day 5:

Today we start with the beautiful Simplon pass and  after crossing the Ganter-bridge, we enter its  sweeping and lengthy curves to the summit and beyond. We stay to the North of lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region of Italy, before crossing back in to Switzerland and the scenery throughout will certainly not disappoint you. We cross the stunning, Saint Bernardino pass and very shortly after, enter the Splugen pass, taking us back in to Italy and our overnight stay close to the base of the pass.

Day 6:

A stunning ride today will see us head from the hotel and up the short, twisting Maloja pass. This whole area is breathtakingly beautiful with lakes and mountain peaks off to our right as we head towards St Moritz. The Ofenpass is next on our list and after clearing this, we climb the Umbrail Pass and on to the summit of the famous Stelvio at 2757 meters. We descend from here in to the Sud Tyrol region and head for our wonderful 4* hotel for the evening, after an epic day on the bike.

Day 7:

Today we journey South through the beautiful Trentino-Alto region. We take the passo de Costalunga, before heading on beautiful routes North and East in to the Veneto region. Our route passes along the edge of the Dolomiti national park. This is another wonderful day on the bike with excellent roads and magnificent scenery. We will swing East and then finally South, before ending the day at a lovely little town with a backdrop of stunning Dolomites mountain scenery all around us. We have a beautiful 4* hotel here and the town has several small bars and restaurants to while away the evening after a really great day.

Day 8:

We ride the roads in this beautiful region today, using a couple of stunning passes to head in to the Udine region. We finally head North and after another stunning pass, we cross in to Austria. The most famous Austrian Alpine pass of them all – The Grossglockner is now within distance. Note; ‘there is a toll charge on this pass of 25 euros’ – Stunning views today, so long as the weather is clear on the Grossglockner and our decent takes us deeper in to the Austrian Tyrol region. Here we have a wonderful 4* hotel, complete with all necessary amenities for our overnight stay.

Day 9:

Today we cover the final two passes on our tour and head North West on route towards Munich. The route today will again avoid motorway use where possible and stay on national scenic roads. Our destination is the lovely German city of Augsburg and we have a lovely 4* hotel here used by Missed Adventures for several years now.

Day 10:

Leaving the hotel after breakfast puts us quickly on to the main motorway network as we begin our journey North. We will break the journey up for a short distance, by using one national route and continue our journey in to the Saarland region of Germany. Here we have a lovely family run hotel with on site bar and restaurant for our penultimate night of the tour.

Day 11:

Today we begin by using the motorway and circumnavigate Luxembourg before heading North and crossing in to Belgium. We will exit the motorway at a regularly used point and cover around 60 to 70 miles cross-country on national routes, giving us the opportunity for a comfort break away from motorway services. We do have to rejoin the motorway for our final push up towards Lille and our final hotel of the tour. We do have a lovely hotel for the final evening with large inviting, air conditioned rooms, an on site bar and restaurant and secure parking.

Day 12:

Leaving our hotel we head back on to the motorway network and make our way across France towards Calais and the Eurotunnel terminal. We arrive back in the UK after the short 35 minute crossing leaving everyone to make their onward journey home. Anyone using the ferry return from Zeebrugge to Hull can have a later check out and make their way to the ferry port during the afternoon.
