We begin this tour by taking the lunchtime ferry from Portsmouth and you should make your way there for the crossing to Bilbao. We arrive in Spain at lunchtime the following day and travel through stunning countryside to our hotel in Jaca. This is a wonderful old fort city with a rich history and it gets the holiday off to a great start.

Leaving Jaca after breakfast, we cross the Pyrenees in to France, where we travel over the famous Tour de France Col’s, eventually dropping back in to Spain via a different route for our next overnight stay.
We experience the beautiful roads in the Pyrenees along with the breathtaking views from the mountains and open flowing valleys.

Heading East in to Navarra and then on beyond Pamplona, we travel on stunningly scenic routes through the lush green countryside of the Basque country and stay in the beautiful wine region of Rioja, at a wonderful hotel used by Missed Adventures on previous tours. We have our final night in the city of Bilbao at a fabulous hotel close to the ‘old town’ where we can enjoy the fabulous tapas bars. Our tour eventually ends by taking the morning sailing back to Portsmouth, but the memories and the experiences from your time here will not fade and this a tour that absolutely everyone can savour.

Day 1:

Our Basque country and Pyrenees tour begins with the ferry sailing to Bilbao and you should make your way there for the lunch time departure. You have the chance to relax in the bar and get to know your fellow travellers and enjoy the ambience of the ship during the crossing. It is a lovely way to start your holiday.

Day 2:

We arrive in Spain and make our way South East through the lush, green Basque countryside. Our 4* hotel, complete with secure parking, is situated in the historic fort city of Jaca. It is a city with a history of ancient battles between Moors and Christians and set amongst the fabulous buildings here is the 17th century Cathedral, a must to see. Close by is the pedestrian only zone where there are many bars and restaurants used on previous tours by Missed Adventures.

Day 3:

Leaving Jaca, we travel over the Pyrenees and descend in to France. The roads we are heading for are famous the world over, as they regularly form part of the Tour de France routes. We have some magnificent Col’s to ride up and over today including the mighty Col d’Aubisque, the Col du Tourmalet, the Col du Soulor, the Col d’Aspin and the Col de Pereysourde. Our destination at the end of a fabulous day is a lovely hotel set in a little town on the Spanish side of the mountains.

Day 4:

Heading West through Aragon and on in to Navarra, with the peaks of the mighty Pyrenees to our right, we travel through lovely open countryside. This region is outstanding for both motorcycling roads and fabulous scenery and you are world away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. We cross in to the Basque country and end the day at a wonderful hotel in the Rioja region, which has been used by Missed Adventures for many years.

Day 5:

Today we head north travelling through the beautiful open countryside of the Basque country. Our destination for the next night on our tour is San Sebastian, which offers us the beautiful La Concha bay, magnificent old buildings and the old town with its many restaurants and tapas bars. Our lovely 4* hotel here is close to La Concha beach and has a wealth of amenities, including secure garage parking.

Day 6:

After breakfast we leave the hotel and travel via the stunningly beautiful Basque coastline to Bilbao and our final nights hotel. Our route will hug the coastline, but also follow the road inland, before returning via its natural contours to the sea. The deep blue of the ocean is interspersed with lush green trees and scenery as we travel through the beautiful Basque countryside. Our Fabulous hotel in Bilbao is set close to the old town and is a wonderful location for the penultimate night of the trip.

Day 7:

Our ferry back to the UK does not depart until 10.30am leaving us time to have a relaxing breakfast before departing the hotel and travelling the short distance along the motorway towards the port. Please note; there is a 1 euro toll on route back to Bilbao port.

Day 8:

Landing back in Portsmouth at 09.00 – 09.15 will hopefully leave everyone refreshed for the onward journey home. This tour will provide you with many fantastic memories, of the breathtaking scenery, the wonderful food and wine and the stunning biking roads, which will be your favourite.
