Day 1:

Today you should make your way to Folkestone for the early afternoon departure on the Eurotunnel. We travel across Northern France and in to Belgium for our first overnight stay of the trip. Our hotel is set in the centre of Aalst and has an on site bar and restaurant. There are also countless bars and restaurants close by and all within easy walking distance.

Day 2:

Crossing open countryside and using mostly the main motorway network, we travel through Belgium towards Luxembourg, entering the Arden region. We visit Bastogne, a city steeped in history during the Battle of the Bulge, Hitlers final counter offensive of WW2. We call at a magnificent memorial in the town before moving on to our hotel for the evening.

Day 3:

From the Arden region we head South and circumnavigate Luxembourg before heading in to France. Today is all about the Haut-Rhin and Vosges region. We ride the lovely Rue de Cretes and end our day by crossing the Grand Ballon. On a clear day, we have panoramic scenery at the summit of the Ballon, before descending through wooded sweeping bends to our hotel in the Alsace region. Our hotel has undercover motorcycle parking and is situated close to bars and restaurants in the town.

Day 4:

Leaving the hotel we head East and cross the Rhine in to Germany. We stay on the Germany side of the river, with Switzerland off to our right and pick up the B500 heading North. Stunning scenery and roads are guaranteed today as we travel in to the Black Forest. Our secluded hotel for the evening, has underground garage parking and is set in a lovely tranquil location.

Day 5:

This morning after breakfast we head North and ride the famous section of B500, as mentioned in many motorcycling publications. Stunning scenery is guaranteed as we head through long sweeping bends and look out over the canopy of the forest. We again cross the Rhine near Baden Baden and in to France, before heading North and crossing back in to Germany and the Rhineland Palatinate region. Our final destination and the base for our next two nights, is the Mosel valley and our hotel in a beautiful setting close to the river. The hotel provides a parking area and is set in a location which is close to the centre of a quite town. The Mosel and Rhine regions are well known for producing excellent wines and we use a favourite restaurant here, which is popular amongst the locals.

Day 6:

Today takes us across open countryside towards the Rhine valley and the mighty Rhine river. There are the wonderful chocolate box villages that we pass through, on route towards Koblenz and the famous Duetcher Eche – (German corner). This is where the Rhine and Mosel rivers meet and the German national flag flies alongside the 16 federal states at the plaza. Following the Mosel river back South, we cross at various points and bridge intersections as we enjoy this fabulous motorcycling countryside. As we are the hotel for a second night, any unwanted luggage can be left behind in your room.

Day 7:

Using routes which travel through the Saar Hunsruck, we initially head down towards Saarbrucken, before turning North West and following the Saar river to Trier. In Trier we have an excellent hotel close to the city centre. This is Germany’s oldest recorded city and also the birthplace of Karl Marx. The city offers us some delightful history, including – the famous Römerbrücke bridge over the Mosel, dating back to 150 A.D., the Hauptmarkt, with a replica stone cross (the original is now a museum piece) and the Porta Negra – the only one of the original four city gates which still stand to this day. Our hotel has secure garage parking and is ideally situated close to the centre of the city where there are an abundance of bars and restaurants.

Day 8:

Today we begin by following the Mosel river South and crossing in to Luxembourg. We finally join the motorway and circumnavigate Luxembourg before heading North and crossing in to Belgium. We will exit the motorway at a regularly used point, in order cover around 60 to 70 miles cross-country on national routes. This gives us the opportunity for comfort breaks away from motorway services. We do have to rejoin the motorway for our final push up towards our last hotel during the tour. We have a lovely hotel for this final evening with stunning views and inviting rooms, an on site bar, plus restaurant and secure parking.

Day 9:

Following a continental buffet style breakfast we leave our hotel behind and using the motorway network make our way to Calais for the Eurotunnel crossing to Folkestone. As our hotel is only 90 miles from the Eurotunnel, this is our preferred overnight stay. Our short crossing will leave everyone relatively refreshed for your onward journey home in the UK.
