Northern Central SpainOur Spanish motorcycle tour begins by taking the evening ferry from Portsmouth to the port of Santander over a two night crossing.

We follow the superb roads through cantabria in to Castilla y Leon, Rioja and then the Basque country, all of which offer fabulous scenery and exceptional motorcycling country. We will stay in the wonderful cities of Leon, Logrono, Toledo and Cordoba using fabulous hotels along the way. There are stunning roads and the beautiful scenery of the landscape as we pass through each different region around our route.

We travel back through the Pico’s de Europa and spend two nights here, allowing us to ride the roads in this wonderfully scenic area.

Our Northern and Central Spain tour is one of the very best destinations for motorcycling and Missed Adventures gives you the opportunity to experience it with us.

Day 1:

Our Northern and Central Spain tour begins from Portsmouth and you should make your way there for the evening ferry at 21.30 Santander. Relaxing on board you can start your holiday and use the ships facilities that include, bars, restaurants and cafes or the seated viewing areas around the ship.

This is a two night crossing to Spain and we arrive in Santander on the morning of 20th April.

Day 3:

Welcoming you to its unique and diverse landscape, we travel through Cantabria and on down towards the Basque country. Our hotel in the vibrant city of Logrono has secure garage parking and gives us an ideal location, being very close to the centre, and its many restaurants and tapas bars.

Day 4:

A stunning ride today with mountain roads and breathtaking scenery all the way as we travel south. As we get closer towards Madrid there is a wonderful backdrop of mountain peaks surrounding us.

Our overnight location is the wonderful city of Toledo, with all its rich history and wonderful buildings.

Day 5:

This morning we make our way south across the panoramic open plains. We travel at a leisurely pace and allow everyone to see and feel the region, take in the aromatic smells that the landscape has to offer. We experience rural Spain at its best, a land that many tourists do not see when they visit this beautiful country.

Crossing the wide-open and fertile farming valley of the Vega de Toral, this really is big sky country with views that go on forever. We cross the Douro river, which has the Tierra del Pan (land of the bread) at its north and the Tierra del Vino (land of the wine) to its south. We press on south towards the vibrant University City of Salamanca. It is claimed that Spain’s most beautiful Plaza Mayor is in Salamanca and it definitely does not disappoint. You can watch the building facades change colour with the setting of the sun and marvel at the stunning architecture that surrounds you here. We have a beautiful 4* hotel, set in a wonderful location close to the city and its sights. Secure garage parking is also provided for comfort and peace of mind.

Day 5:

Today we head for Segovia a beautiful and historic city, famous for its magnificent and well-preserved Roman viaduct. On route we will travel via Avila ‘the walled city’ which also boasts a wealth of history down the ages. We avoid motorways and again follow national routes allowing you to experience the journey and take in the stunning countryside. In Segovia we have a well-appointed 4* hotel close to the attractions offering secure motorcycle parking and on site facilities.

Day 6:

From Segovia we have an excellent ride today as we head for Logrono. We travel through Castile y Leon and eventually on in to La Rioja, through the stunning Sierra de Cebollera national park. Rioja is world renowned for the quality of its wine and the rich soil here, along with the climate, help to make this region famous amongst wine connoisseurs. Logrono is a fabulous place to stay with the old world narrow back streets and tapas bars, mixing with the modern façade of the city. Here we have an excellent 4* hotel  providing secure garage parking for your motorcycle and set close to the pedestrian only zone

Day 7:

Travelling north from Logrono we head through Rioja and in to the Basque country using minor roads and crossing national parks as head towards the Basque coast. A day of fabulous scenery and excellent roads, travelling extensively through rich green countryside. Our 4* hotel at the end of the day is situated close to la Concha bay in wonderful San Sebastián. For our final night in Spain we have a choice of visiting the old town or staying close to the hotel where there are numerous bars and different restaurant’s to choose from.

Day 8:

After breakfast we leave the hotel and head towards France using the motorway network. We use both motorway and National route today to cover the 300 miles as we head in to the Vienne region and our city centre hotel for the evening. This is our final hotel stay on the tour and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in which to unwind and enjoy the night together. After a leisurely breakfast the next morning, those that wish can enjoy a final stroll through the centre of the city on the paved zone and enjoy coffee as we will not be leaving until late morning.

Day 9:

Our ferry back to the UK does not leave until the evening, giving us a gentle cross country run to the port with plenty of opportunity for coffee stops and lunch. Following check in at the port and allocation of our overnight cabins, we can relax once on board and enjoy a drink together in the bar as our ship sails back towards the UK

Day 10:

Our ferry docks in Portsmouth at 07:15 leaving everyone refreshed to make their own arrangements for the onward journey home on Friday morning. There will soon be chance to look back through the many scenic pictures of your time away and choose your favourite ones of the holiday.
